Renowned for being a global leader in providing total mooring solutions to offshore oil and gas and renewable sectors, Mooreast has established itself as a global player in the offshore industries. They have a long history, with over 30 years of experiences in delivering mooring systems and components. They are also the world’s largest drag anchor manufacturer, making them a strong contender for the title of best in the industry.
BeeX partnered with Mooreast by providing:
Ultra-Short Baseline (USBL) has been the go-to for tracking underwater objects. It is challenging to do this, especially in shallow waters (<30m) and long layback distance (>100m). Accuracy drops, signals can bounce around or get distorted due to limited slant range of the receiver. The whole setup process is highly dependent on the presence of a surface support vessel, and the quality of calibrations. It is not ideal when time and precision are everything.
That’s where BeeX comes in.
When Mooreast needed reliable and productive seabed data during the installation of a 6-point Multibuoy mooring system in Thailand, BeeX delivered. Our Hovering AUV, A.IKANBILIS, handled the full scope of the geo-referenced inspection before, during, and after installation—with speed and precision.
We’ve packed surface Real-Time Kinematic (RTK), Inertial Navigation System (INS), multibeam sonar, and high-resolution cameras all into our compact Hovering AUV A.IKANBILIS. It’s the smallest AUV that can do survey, inspection, and georeferencing all in a single pass. No USBL required, no large launch setup.
A.IKANBILIS gets in, gets the job done, and gets out—fast. It captures stable, high-quality data from multiple sensors, adapts to changing environments in real-time, and cuts down dramatically on manpower and cost.
During a test to verify the precision of our data, TA Geosolution provided us with the coordinates of a shackle underwater, which we then used to set our vehicles’ positions. Using these coordinates, BeeX’s A.IKANBILIS successfully located the shackle with a margin of error of just 0.08 meters, confirming the accuracy of A.IKANBILIS’s Navigation System.
“BeeX’s A.IKANBILIS brought a new level of dataset and precision to our mooring installation. Without relying on traditional USBL system, we saved significant time and cost during mobilization and received high quality data for pre-lay survey that includes within the system. It’s a smarter and more efficient way to work underwater.” Nathan Low, Mooreast’s Regional BD Manager commented.
With BeeX, you don’t just get data. You get actionable insights, quickly and reliably. It’s not just smarter tech. It’s a smarter way to work underwater.
BeeX processes navigation, sonar, and optical data in real-time, eliminating time wasted on processing, and any uncertainty during the entire installation process. With Sambal Portal, various stakeholders can immediately cross reference visual footage with sonar mosaics (which was previously collected with survey gear such as Side Scan).
A.IKANBILIS AUV can continuously track its position and adjust itself to stay on the intended path, even with currents. The AUV can move to a target position with just 1 right click, unlike traditional methods that require manual piloting every step of the way. This reduces operation time by roughly 50%.
Instead of the using conventional General Visual Inspection to scan the seabed which follows an irregular track based a pilot’s skill and provides an uneven coverage, BeeX uses the lawnmower method to scan the seabed. This increases the consistency and reliability of the data collected, improving the productivity by at least 50%.
This project eliminates the need to have USBL and its associated timeframes for calibrations.

This reduction in equipment rental costs and project execution days is estimated to be worth more than USD 104,000 overall cost savings to the project. The successful partnership between Mooreast and BeeX showcases how combining deep industry expertise with cutting-edge technology leads to smarter, faster, and more cost-effective offshore operations. By replacing traditional methods with innovation, BeeX’s A.IKANBILIS empowered Mooreast to complete critical mooring tasks with precision, reduced setup time, and richer data insights.
Together, we’re not just improving how things are done underwater—we’re shaping the future of underwater operations.
