BeeX Pte Ltd, a marine robotics spin-off from the National University of Singapore, and AI and Robotics Ventures Company Limited (ARV), a subsidiary of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), will begin on their joint research and development work to design, manufacture and test an Inspection class Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (I-AUV), exploring various applications such as pipeline and structural inspections.
The vehicle comes with bespoke autonomy software developed by BeeX, using high-resolution sensors to achieve real-time perception, localisation, and 3D visualisation for quality subsea asset monitoring.
The joint programme will see ARV become one of the few companies in the region to capitalise on applied Artificial Intelligence in dramatically reducing long term operational costs and increasing environmental safety for shallow water inspections.
Dr. Thana Slanvetpan, ARV General Manager said: “Our ARV team has pioneered the deployment of highly complex robotics systems. We are excited to embark on this programme to co-develop the I-AUV with BeeX to achieve operationalisation of these vehicles in our region, ensuring that the implementation is both technically and economically viable.”
Goh Eng Wei, CTO for BeeX in Singapore said: “Autonomous behavioural development in the murky and shallow waters is BeeX’s niche expertise. This is ideal for the Underwater Inspection market in Asia and look forward to support ARV’s continued growth in this sector.”
